5-10-12

How many of us graduate out of university and end up with no jobs. For sure, I'm not the only one. I worked hard for four years. Inspite of the rough patches, I managed to get a decent percentage of 78.1% which is Distinction. Spent hours working frame by frame in my college sacrificing so many nights for study and here I am, working as a Customer Service Sales Assistant in Hospitality. A tech savvy person thrown into something totally opposite. Sounds delicious!

Probably if I would have stayed back in India, I could have manged to work for my nephews newly launched graphic design company and do good in singing, but flies turned to butterflies and I left for Melbourne.

The amount of enthusiasm and confidence I had when I arrived here has gone down. I applied for so many graphic design jobs and I was unsuccessful. Window Shopped for three months. Then finally thought about survival and gave up on the Arts industry totally.

To my surprise, it was as hard to get into Customer Service and Retail as it was to get into Graphic Designing. Finally, through an uncle of mine, I managed to get into a fast food center being paid $13.52/hr which is illegal and below pay rate. After a month of training, she increased it to $15.90, which is still below pay rate but I dont complain as I get a water bottle and a meal free, which would add up to $25/hr easily.

Have been working there for 7 months now, till I had a strong desire to switch to an office job. It was getting tedious to stand for long hours and take the crap from my Supervisor. I decided to get into a call center. Applied for a training program, got through the work experience program. Excelled in it and was rejected the job for a mysterious reason.

Luckily enough, I managed to find a place in an Institute and am currently studying, Diploma of Music and a month of Training and Assessment that could lead to a job as a Music Teacher, which is fair enough. Besides, I have also been teaching a seven year old for $15 per half hour lesson on Sundays so its
reasonable.

So writing after a long time, looking back, so much has changed. I quit Diploma of Music Tution as I was not happy with completing the assignments where I had to write thesis about Rock n Roll music of the seventies and the drug addicts who inspired youth of that time through their music to follow their immoral values. So lost base of it. It was highly impossible for me to do it.
And then I got a job in the city as a Collections Associate in a debt collection agency with good $$. But it was too draining that I could not stick around for more than a year. It was emotionally draining. I'm not a human body with a battery in my heart to ignore somebody's abuses.

And now after 3 months of quitting my job at the debt collection agency, I'm looking for future prospects. Graphic design is good but values have demanded me to opt for something that's more physically and emotionally satisfying. In the mean time I had also bought a Piano so it wouldn't hurt much to do a bit of tutoring.

Looking forward to a brighter future in 2014. Hopefully,
everything will go smoothly. :-)
